What the course covers
According to the official description, activities include importing, organizing and manipulating data, as well as creating tables and charts in R/RStudio. Classes combine theory and practice in a computer lab.
For nursing and health researchers, the course is relevant to working with study data and presenting findings. Its introductory scope should not be confused with comprehensive coverage of every stage of statistical analysis.
Who can apply?
The course description identifies its target audience as health professionals with a completed undergraduate degree. The teaching plan also mentions degrees in related fields. The organizers will assess applications based on the documents submitted and the course prerequisites.
How to apply
The announced application period began on November 3, 2026. Visit the course page on the Fiocruz Virtual Campus and follow the account registration and application instructions. Access requires an Acesso Fiocruz account.
The 15 places refer to the total advertised intake, not the number of places still available. The selection process page states that selection combines application order with a review of supporting documents and the statement of interest.
Documents required for selection
Applicants must submit an up-to-date Lattes CV or curriculum vitae, a diploma or official confirmation of undergraduate degree completion, and a cover letter or statement of interest.
Check the letter’s page limit: the selection process page specifies a maximum of one page, while the teaching plan mentions two. The official instructions therefore conflict. Check the requirement in the application form and, if necessary, contact the course office at ensino@ini.fiocruz.br.
Certificate and costs
A completion certificate is available to participants with at least 75% attendance. The teaching plan describes an optional practical assessment for participants who want to develop an R script using their own dataset. This exercise is not presented as a mandatory requirement for certification.
The pages reviewed do not clarify whether the course is free, whether any fees apply or whether there is a certificate issuance fee. Confirm these conditions before applying or making travel arrangements.
